HOORAY! SAY THE ROSES
24.05.2007
firstly we'd like to welcome hooray! say the roses to the motive
sounds family, next we'd like to announce their departure. the multi-instrumental
six piece based in leeds formed in 2005 and broke our hearts last
when when they told us they were calling it a day, sadly, before
we could release the 10" single of 'femme au foyer'.
members of hooray! say the roses are working with a new 'project';
held by hands, click here
for a listen and please still check out hooray! say the roses (here)
as we think it's music you need to hear. r.i.p.

35 DAYS OF NEWS
02.05.2007
the debut, self titled album from let airplanes circle overhead,
recorded when they were just 16/17 has now sold out. you might be
lucky to find a copy in a shop somewhere or see one crop up on ebay,
otherwise you'll have to settle for itunes.
that's not all, for the first time in 4 years the band have gone
back in the studio to record new material which they will be touring
in august. you can read about it on their myspace blog by clicking
here.
in other news, laura has decided to leave Mt.. the following is
a message posted on the band's web
site;
"it is with regret that i announce laura's departure from Mt.
after many years working together we have reached various conclusions,
and now go our separate ways.
the new album is still very much under construction though, and
laura is continuing to contribute to it's completion. we have been
working with various collaborators on this release, and i will continue
to do so, hopefully creating our best album to date in the process.
Mt. will continue to exist as my project, and i will work with as
many people as i can to explore it's potential to the full. i am
also engaged in the creation of a new project, but for now, news
of that can wait.
all for now,
ben".
details of the manatees and bossk tour in june will be announce
in the next couple of weeks aswell as news about the new record
and it's imminent release.
there's going to be a lot! of big changes in the next few months
so keep checking back to find out what they are. sorry we've put
prices up on cd's, resonance, who host our online store have had
to up the fees to stay afloat of the murky waters that are cyberspace.

...HAPPENINGS
07.03.2007
capulet got a mention on steve lamaq’s radio1 show last week
(27th feb 2006) in a feature on preston. If you head over to www.bbc.co.uk/radio1
you should be able to hear it again.
stock has been flying off the e-shelves of resonance and a few
releases recently sold out. we’ve sent replacement stock so
if you tried to order something and it was sold out try again in
a day or two.
manatees and Mt. have both been in the studio these last few weeks
so keep checking your inbox for updates on future releases.
our good friend barry smith of create and consume and maker of
the motivesounds compilation, epone (ctrlaltdelete), systems and
drafts (skoud) and the world is a tragic place… (capulet)
has launched a web site for tee shirts that he makes from time to
time. take a look at www.createandconsume.co.uk
and get on the mailinglist as he's about to do a short run of a
new design.

LABEL OF LOVE
26.02.2007
the march issue of creative review is now out, and within its hallowed
pages you can find the first proper feature on motivesounds. the
fun begins at page 50, and it is in your, your children's and your
childre'ns children's interest to go out and purchase a copy, and
read the nice things they say about us.
for those who are regular visitors to motivesounds.com you'll have
noticed the site was down for a few days. we forgot to pay some
bills but it's all ok now though as we spent some time at truck
stops and made enough money to get back online and buy the new keane
album...

POST-JANUARY SALE
01.02.2007
from today, we have dropped the prices of some of our releases.
think of it as a late january sale. you can now grab skoud ‘systems
& drafts’, capulet ‘the world…’ and
let airplanes circle overhead ‘s/t’ for £2.99
each, whilst ctrlaltdelete ‘mondegreens’ has dropped
to £3.49 and skoud ‘lost systems’ can be acquired
for a modest £6.99. we are gearing up for the 2007’s
releases, and in order to shift the last few of our earlier releases,
we are now offering them at these new prices. these are all limited
edition, and once we have sold out there will be no reprints. you
could get three albums for the price of one normal one (including
postage!), which, of course, we highly recommend you consider…
